The Running Room: Strategies, Stories and Skills for Candidates and Campaigners

About the Project

Springtide partnered with Elections Canada to develop a full-day workshop for first-time candidates and campaign managers to learn about what’s involved in running for a seat in the Canadian parliament.  The workshop was delivered as a pilot project on February 9, 2019.  An organizer’s guide was also developed for community organizations wishing to deliver a similar workshop in their communities.

My Role

I designed the workshop format, co-hosted the workshop, developed and delivered two presentations (How to Run a Campaign, How to Engage Unlikely Voters), hosted panel discussions, marketed the program, promoted it to local media, recruited breakout group facilitators and event volunteers.

Media Coverage

Before the workshop, I spoke with Paul Brothers from Global News Halifax about the workshop.
